In a never ending pursuit of new and different ways to bring science to our students, I have taken on the wonderful world of Online Education.. I have been using moodle as delivery system, taking my physics curriculum from class and adapting it as best I can (with minimal training).
I have survived one semester.. I was satisfied with the way the material was presented but need to find other options.. I was not satisfied with test and problem solving strategies.. I need to be able to "see" students ideas and strategies for problem solving. I do not want to resort to multiple choice type book driven tests.

I know what you mean about wanting to be able to "see the students problem solving" in an online course. I also am surviving my first online teaching experience and it does present some interesting challenges. I still have to think about how to use a blog and have that to manage with everything else that is happening in my online class.
